Does it make sense to read Philosophy of Java, for SE 5/6

Yesterday evening I downloaded the book Philosophy of Java , 4th edition. After reading the preface, I was alerted by this paragraph: “ One of the important improvements in this edition is the complete integration of the “new” features of Java SE 5/6 for use in the book. We have collected material that is compatible only with Java SE 5/6 and most of it will not compile in previous versions of Java . " And the book of 2015. Please advise what to do.
