Creating a chat via Socket in Java

I'm very interested in creating a chat on Intelijj IDEA! I have a question, I created a chat, I run it, everything compiles, but the chat itself works in the console. Tell me, let’s say I want to try to communicate with a friend via this chat, but he doesn’t have Intelijj IDEA. How can you make a chat accessible to many people if you send it to them, or via the Internet?
