How I got a job as a Java programmer

How I got a job as a Java programmer - 1 Now it’s the turn of my success story :) On January 25, 2015, I accidentally ended up on Javarash. Before that, I had been looking for myself for about six months, because I understood that working as a manager is the last thing a self-respecting person should do. But having an economic education, it was not so easy to turn off this slippery slope. I had clear priorities: I believed (and still believe) that only creative professions are worthy of respect. Therefore, my path went either to the creative class or to the workers). I tried my hand at web design and a little programming. But it was so fleeting that it deserves at most one sentence in my story. So from that day my thorough training began. I decided to go to the end, read until victory. Getting a job was considered a victory for me. I quickly skipped through the first 6 levels, then 4 more. And now I had to pay - there wasn’t much money, I even had to borrow. I paid 12 thousand rubles for the full 40 levels in March 2015. For me it was a lot of money at that time. Acquaintances and friends then looked a little askance) Until mid-summer, I completed 27 levels. IMHO, having reached 23, you already need to move on to studying the web stack (servlets, jdbc, tomcat) and actively take on sql. For me, the course is too long, and the quality of the assignments steadily declines after level 23. In parallel with Javarash, I studied algorithms and discrete mathematics. The algorithms helped a lot in the future! In fact, they are the ones who change thinking in the right direction, and you begin to think no longer within the framework of a certain technology. In the summer I took Timur Batyrshinov's courses, which gave me tangible progress in the field of EE. Around the same time, I began applying for vacancies. But, alas, my knowledge at that time was not enough. In an attempt to broaden my horizons in the IT field, I enrolled in a one-year retraining program from CSC. I finally expanded my horizons and received a large dose of matan. The diploma was awarded on July 14, 2016. During these 9 months I worked more than 5 years on Instagram. But that’s a different story) I understood that in my hometown, Volzhsky, there was nothing to do in terms of Java. I made an attempt to move to Voronezh and find a job as a Javaist there. But again he did not impress the employer. This difficult period lasted until January 2016. I was kicked, either for the lack of a technical tower, or for my poor knowledge of Java. There were vacancies in which they wrote that they needed a Java Dev, but in fact they offered me 1C :) But I did not lose heart. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was doing my own thing. And so, in November 2015, they sent me test assignments to the Java School. I completed them with ease and sent them back. But I didn’t get into that stream, because the recruitment ended. and only in January 2016 they wrote to me that everything was fine and they were waiting for me for social work in St. Petersburg. The exact date was not given. I had little money and didn’t know what day to buy tickets for. I took it at random to arrive on January 20... And on the same day, three hours after my train arrived, I was scheduled for an interview! I arrived at the office with things unwashed and tired) But he passed two stages of selection and was invited to the Java School. At the Java school I worked all day long, while simultaneously studying on the steppe. And after the show, they sent me a job offer. Since April 20, I have been officially working as a Software Developer. My probation period ended a couple of days ago. The condition for its successful completion was passing the Oracle certification. I passed it on July 18th. Now, already working as a developer, I see even more things that I don’t know. But my enthusiasm to learn new things is only growing. I still often get stupid, but the confidence that any problem can be solved no longer leaves me :) PS If I could send myself a message in January 2015 about what and how to study, I would write the following: 1. JavaRush up to level 23. From level 17 JavaRash we learn: SQL (Forta "SQL in 10 minutes" and http://www.sql-ex.ru/learn_exercises.php) Algorithms (Laforet "Algorithms in Java") 2. Batyrshinov (Online library in Java ) *** here you can start consciously going to interviews *** 3. Batyrshinov (Online library in Java (Spring)) 4. Batyrshinov (Web services in Java) Further, you yourself will understand what you are missing; )
