Review of the book Head First HTML - 1 ...and I drank hibiscus tea, no hangover, no headache in the morning. Tested on myself! (c) unknown peddler on a commuter train Good afternoon, dear Javars and Javarashites! As senior party comrades teach, the Java language alone is not enough; you also need to have an idea about the mycology of related areas. And so, guided by such parting words, I studied the book “Learning HTML, XHTML and CSS” by Elizabeth Freeman and Eric Freeman (Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML By Eric Freeman, Elisabeth Robson). The book is available in Russian in paper and electronic form. As a matter of fact, my opinion about the book is the same as about “Learning Java,” which I described here . Let me summarize briefly. The book is suitable: a) for learning HTML & CSS from scratch and getting a general idea of them; b) as material used to understand (understand) the topic; c) to repeat topics the understanding of which has been lost. Besides. The book's style of presentation is as far as possible from academic textbooks. The tasks for mastering the material are very specific. As a result, for each topic it is necessary to come up with tasks for writing the appropriate code yourself. The accessibility of material for understanding does not automatically imply ease of memorization. Significant additional effort must be put into both remembering the concepts learned and remembering the factual information. I made no effort to memorize the material. I didn’t come up with any coding tasks for myself. As a result, a lot has already been forgotten and I won’t write the site right away. Best regards, Green Frog.
