From ring to IT

Published in the Random EN group
Hi all!!! I want to share my success story, or rather tell how CodeGym has changed my life. I hope my story will motivate someone not to give up and work harder for their dreams. But once upon a time, having a job that I go to with love and earning decent money with my intellect was just a dream ... But first things first :) From the ring to IT - 1At school I was a capable student: I coped very well with exact sciences, counted solved logical problems. My parents thought that I would become some kind of professor)) But times are changing and, growing up, I took up sports seriously: there were competitions, victories and defeats. Dreamed of becoming a professional fighter and making a living from it. Among the biggest achievements, I want to note the third place in the World Combat Sambo Championship (Moscow 2012), the two-time national championship in combat sambo and many victories in international MMA and wrestling tournaments. But life has its own plans, and at one fine moment the earth slowly began to slip from under your feet. A series of defeats, injuries, and the worst thing - the prohibitions of the medical board to compete at competitions put an end to my dreams. Sport at that time was the only meaning of my life, and having lost it, I lost myself. For several years, more precisely, 3-4 years, I could not find myself anywhere. He went abroad and worked anywhere: at construction sites, and as a dishwasher and cleaner. Everywhere, just to earn a living and try to find a new business in life, to find meaning. Depression, fiasco, meaninglessness of existence - these are the words that can describe this period. But at the same time, it was a period of searching and finding a new self. I just didn't think of it right away. One fine day in the winter of 2017, a random (I don't believe in coincidence, to be honest) meeting in the gym with a person whom I did not know before was the first step on the path to a new life, for which I am still grateful to him. After training, Vasya, that's his name, offered to give me a lift - he was just on the way. I noticed that he has a cool car, although he does not look like a bandit himself - he looks too kind)) I asked him what he was doing. He told that he works in IT and a little about the nuances of his activities. I remembered that at the university (I studied at the Polytechnic, but did not finish my studies) I was well versed in programming - Assembler, C ++, and even wrote a couple of applications. But it was a long time ago, I forgot almost everything, and C++ seemed too complicated for me to start. Vasya advised to study Java. I thanked him and for a while hid this impulse to IT on the back burner. A month later, he left again to work in London, again working during the day at a construction site, and at night as a janitor in a banquet hall, a security guard at a disco, a dishwasher in a restaurant. Little by little, I returned to the idea of becoming a programmer. I started browsing the Internet in search of resources for learning Java, and so I came across CodeGym . I was skeptical at that time about any online learning systems, especially when it came to paid platforms. But CodeGymhooked me with the design and the funny and warm story about our friend Amigo. I took a premium subscription and began to study level after level for long evenings after work and training. To be honest, those were the best moments. I was looking forward to the evening when I would have free time to read the material and solve problems. I really like that there is a huge amount of practical tasks, thanks to which the learning goes much faster. So I got to level 21. It took this time from April 2017 to September 2017. Then I found out from friends and on job sites that there is such a company Endavawe have in Chisinau, which conducts recruitment for an internship. I decided to give it a try and sent my resume. At the end of 3 interviews, I was accepted for an internship. 3 months of intense training and team work have passed, following which we presented a project together on a given topic. After the end of the internship, they made me an offer that I could not refuse - I was offered a JOB! It is now one year since I have been with this company. To be honest, this is one of the best experiences of my life. We have a dynamic job, a great team, great salaries and plenty of opportunities for professional growth. During this time, I passed the OCA8 exam , climbed up to level 26 on CodeGym and I'm not going to stop there. In the near future , I’m going to pass OCP8 (I’m preparing for it), there is a goal to pass CodeGym to the end, get an internship, and, of course, do as much useful work as possible for the company and continue to grow. In the end, I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my story to the end and wish you happiness in the new year, determination and harmony. If anyone is interested, here is a link to my Facebook profile, I will be happy to communicate and help with advice: https://www.facebook.com/serghei7777 Until the end!!!
