From the ring to IT

Published in the Random EN group
Hi all!!! I want to share my success story, or rather tell you how JavaRush changed my life. I hope my story will motivate someone not to give up and work harder for their dreams. But once upon a time, having a job that I went to with love, and making decent money with my intellect was just a dream... But first things first :) From the ring to IT - 1At school I was a capable student: I coped very well with the exact sciences, was good at math and solved logical problems. My parents thought that I would become some kind of professor)) But times change and, growing up, I took up sports seriously : there were competitions, victories and defeats. I dreamed of becoming a professional fighter and making a living from it. Among my greatest achievements, I would like to mention third place at the World Combat Sambo Championship (Moscow 2012), two-time national championship in combat sambo and many victories at international MMA and wrestling tournaments. But life has its own plans, and at one point the earth slowly began to slip away from under our feet. A series of defeats, injuries and, worst of all, prohibitions from the medical board to compete in competitions put an end to my dreams. Sport at that time was the only meaning of my life, and having lost it, I lost myself. For several years, more precisely, 3-4 years, I could not find myself anywhere. He went abroad and worked anywhere: on construction sites, as a dishwasher and a cleaner. Everywhere, just to earn a living and try to find a new thing in life, to find meaning. Depression, fiasco, meaninglessness of existence - these are the words that can describe this period. But at the same time, it was a period of searching and finding a new self. I just didn’t realize it right away. One fine day in the winter of 2017 , a chance (I don’t believe in coincidences, to be honest) meeting in the gym with a person I didn’t know before became the first step towards a new life, for which I am still day of gratitude. After training, Vasya, that’s his name, offered to give me a ride - it was just on his way. I noticed that he has a cool car, although he himself doesn’t look like a bandit - he looks too kind)) I asked him what he does. He said that he works in IT and a little about the nuances of his activities. I remembered that at university (I studied at the Polytechnic, but did not finish my studies) I was well versed in programming - Assembly, C++, and even wrote a couple of applications. But it was a long time ago, I forgot almost everything, and C++ seemed too complicated to me to start. Vasya advised me to study Java . I thanked him and put this impulse towards IT on the back burner for a while. A month later, he left again to work in London, again working during the day at a construction site, and at night as a cleaner in a banquet hall, a security guard at a disco, and a dishwasher in a restaurant. Little by little I returned to the idea of becoming a programmer. I started scouring the Internet in search of resources for learning Java, and so I came acrossJavaRush . I was skeptical then about any online learning systems, especially when it came to paid platforms. But JavaRush hooked me with its design and funny and warm story about our friend Amigo. I took a premium subscription and began studying level by level during long evenings after work and training. To be honest, these were the most pleasant moments. I was looking forward to the evening when I had free time to read the material and solve problems. I really like that there is a huge amount of practical tasks here, thanks to which learning goes much faster. So I reached level 21. This time took from April 2017 to September 2017. Then I learned from friends and on job sites that there is a company called Endava in Chisinau that is recruiting for internships. I decided to try and sent my resume. After completing 3 interviews, I was accepted into the internship. 3 months of intense training and team work passed, at the end of which we together presented a project on a given topic. After completing the internship, they made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse - I was offered a JOB! Now it’s been a year since I’ve been working for this company. I'll be honest: this is one of the best events in my life. We have a dynamic work environment, a great team, excellent salaries and plenty of opportunities for professional growth. During this time, I passed the OCA8 exam , rose to level 26 in JavaRush and am not going to stop there. My immediate plans include passing OCP8 (I’m just preparing for it), my goal is to complete JavaRush to the end, get an internship and, of course, do as much useful work as possible for the company and continue to grow. In the end, I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my story to the end and wish you a happy new year, determination and harmony.
