The love for video games has nurtured more than one generation of software developers. This is natural, since computer games are one of the first “IT” hobbies that people encounter in childhood. We won’t be too far wrong if we say that almost everyone has thought of in their minds how they can change this or that video game to make it even better and more interesting. But only a few get to the point of developing their own toys, because this is not an easy task. Some time ago, we implemented a “ Games ” section on JavaRush, where everyone can try themselves as a novice game developer and write their own implementation of a classic video game. The game is similar to the problem you solve in JavaRush. To make it easier for novice programmers, it is divided into steps, provided with detailed recommendations. Some games can be made by beginners who have only reached the fifth level of JavaRush, while others require a little more knowledge. And finally, the most interesting thing: after you follow all the instructions and get the result, the game can be modified as you please! Judging by the number of games already implemented, our users enjoyed this educational entertainment quite well. So, at the time of writing this line, about 250 toys have been published. And, I must say, among the games created by community members, amazing modifications have already appeared! In this article we provide links to the most interesting of them. Game “Evolution” based on 2048
The powers of two that 2048 is based on are good (especially for computers!). However, you know very well what result you will get if you add two tiles with twos, fours, and so on. No surprise. And in this game by Pavel Plynko, the intrigue is preserved: when playing for the first time, you have no idea what you will get by adding two single-celled animals or two cephalopods... Try to beat this game and find out who is at the top of evolution!
Everyone remembers the game “Snake”, in which a reptile, locked in four walls, eats apples, this makes it grow, and tries not to fit into these same four walls, and also not to bite its own tail. So, Konstantin Leonyuk from St. Petersburg decided that such gameplay was very monotonous and added to it. Firstly, the snake itself looks more like a tank. Secondly, after eating five apples, you move to the next level, and there the field and the physics of movement change: from now on our reptile “tank” only moves forward and diagonally. And also - the author designed everything very well, this version of “Snake” looks just great.
If you are a programmer, almost nothing is impossible for you. Did you give out a field and tiles with numbers? Who said this is a 2048 game? Not at all necessary! Roman got bored with the usual tag games and quickly built his own version of the classic puzzle based on the 2048 implementation. And I also screwed up the mouse controls if you don’t like moving the arrows. Try to collect all the numbers in order! You won’t be able to cheat like you would with a plastic analogue ;).
It’s hard to say where this snake with Frankenstein’s face ended up. Perhaps this is a zombie apocalypse? Around it is some kind of city with different buildings, and the food comes from cars, penguins, surfers, boatmen and other strange objects. However, this mysterious version looks and plays interesting - try it!
“You are starting a new game! You have one life. The number of mines on the field is indicated. Every 1000 points you get one more life,” writes the author of the modification . In this “Mineweeper” everything is very coolly visualized, there is a start button and the field is enlarged. Well, every sapper dreams of the opportunity to get another life.
In this modification, you find yourself in a cube of sleeping snakes that take turns feeding. Eats an apple - falls into suspended animation, and the other snake wakes up. But the most interesting thing about this version is that its author used artificial intelligence to automatically play! Of course, you can always press a button and switch to manual control... But watching snakes live their lives is even more interesting!
In this modification, the author not only created interesting graphics in the spirit of Another World , but also changed the rules a little: now on the Moon (or where the action takes place there, perhaps in an unknown world?) there are portals that, when landing carefully, take you to another place. The game also has a timer that allows you to compete with yourself in terms of speed landing, and the amount of fuel is limited.
Konstantin from Moscow messed around with MoonLander and managed to create a very beautiful picture, judging by which, someone has already tried to land on the moon...unsuccessfully. Well, you will succeed! Judging by the reviews, the controls are also more responsive than in the original. See for yourself!
...and doesn't eat unhealthy. To understand what is allowed and what is undesirable, just look at the screenshot of the game. The toy is well made and fun to play with. The main thing is to get used to the high speed of movement and make sure that your diet remains healthy.
This version of the game, created by Kate Pesh , has a convenient menu that shows the number of points scored and the number of remaining flags. You can also start a new game by clicking on the smiley face.
The author of the game kozlotron (if anything, he called himself that, it’s not us :)) is probably one of those who, as a child, did not use instructions from Lego, but came up with their own buildings and assembled them exactly as they wanted. In this version, everything is turned upside down: your goal is not to get 2048, but, on the contrary, to reduce the value of the tiles until you get the usual 2. A simple idea that makes you look at a boring game in a new way.
And Vitaly Volokh added to the game 2048 the ability not only to stack tiles, but also to multiply their value when a special “bonus” tile with an asterisk appears. Give it a try, it definitely brings new colors to the game!
The above-mentioned Vitaly Volokh created another interesting modification, this time of the game “Mineweeper”. Now the sapper's work has become even more difficult: every time an unmined cell is opened, the rest randomly change color... The main thing is not to get dizzy! I'm glad that the first move is always safe.
