How I received Intellij Idea: Ultimate Edition

Published in the Random EN group
As many of you know, Intellij Idea is a very convenient development environment, which has both a free version that contains everything you need, and a paid version aimed at developing in J2EE. Many people can’t/don’t want to afford the paid version, so they either use the free one, pirate it, or use other IDEs. This post shows the loyalty of JetBrains comrades to students. I'll tell you a short story about how I managed to get the Ultimate version of this wonderful IDE.

Background

I looked at the prices for my favorite development environment. I finally came across this wonderful thing: a free educational Classroom License. How I received Intellij Idea: Ultimate Edition - 1 Next, I read the text of the license agreement related to the Classroom License.
License terms Site license model The software can be installed on any number of computers and used by any number of concurrent users in classes. Additionally, students can use the software for homework. 1-year Terms A license is provided for a period of 1 year and allows for free upgrades to all new releases of the software within 1 year. License renewal is available on request. Non-transferable restriction Use of the software is restricted to a licensed user with no right to transfer the software to third parties. For complete details, please check the IntelliJ IDEA Classroom License Agreement.
This license differs from a student license in that it is intended for a class, and not for one person, i.e. directly for practical training of students. After reading the license agreement, I found that it is prohibited to use it for commercial purposes, but I didn’t really want to. I decided: let me try to write to them under a fake name, because I was interested in what they would say and what the mechanism for obtaining this license would be. Unfortunately, neither my messages to them nor the data that I wrote down in the form were saved. I introduced myself as Evgeniy and wrote to them that I wanted to get a Classroom license and asked how I could do this. I received the following response:
Hi Evgeny, Thanks for your interest in the IntelliJ IDEA Classroom License. The Classroom License isn't for one student only - it provides an unlimited license key for your whole class, in fact, it allows every student and professor at your learning institution to use IntelliJ IDEA for free! To send this license, I need a professor, a faculty member or a program director to fill in the form on this page: http://www.jetbrains.com/eforms/resolver.action?licenseRequest=ideaCRLN That's it. Please forward the link to the right person, and I'll get the license key out to you right away. If you were just looking for a license for yourself, our Academic License (http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/buy/buy.html#academic) was created with you in mind. Like the Classroom License, it allows for the use of a fully-functional version of IntelliJ IDEA (for non-commercial purposes only) but is intended for individual students and teachers instead of institutions. Best regards, JetBrains Team http://www.jetbrains.com "Develop with pleasure!"
For those who are not fluent in English, I will briefly convey the essence of the answer:
The form looks like this: Filled out the form, introducing himself as a teacher at MSTU. Bauman, after which he received the following message, already in Russian.
Hello Evgeniy, I am writing to you regarding your request for an IntelliJ IDEA classroom license. To issue a license in your name, I need confirmation that you work as a teacher at the specified university - this could be a link to a page with this information, a scan of your university ID, or a letter from the department or faculty in free form. Also, please send an email from your official university email. I will be able to issue you a license as soon as I receive this information. If you have any additional questions, I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Elena Ganenkova Community Support Coordinator JetBrains http://www.jetbrains.com "Develop with pleasure!"
To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised.
