Have you already heard about Android Things? This is a platform for developing smart devices using Android APIs and Google services, that is, Android for the Internet of Things. Android Things is not a software platform, as it might seem at first glance, but a software and hardware complex based on Intel Edison, NXP Pico and Raspberry Pi 3.
Now the owners of Android are Google. together with partners Hackster and NXP, announced a competition of ideas for developers. Participants will be required to submit their own ideas for using Android Things with other Google services and platforms.

Step 1: Explain your idea
The first stage of the competition ends on September 29, 2017. Before this date, participants must submit a “bare” idea for a future project related to one of the following topics: “smart home”, “smart city”, robotics, “industrial Internet of things”, “retail” and “entertainment”. The authors of the 120 most interesting projects will receive a Pico Pi i.MX6UL kit for the subsequent implementation of their idea.Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:
- best project for enterprises: industrial IoT, Smart Cities, Automotive, etc.;
- Best Startup Project: Building IoT Products for Commercial Use;
- best IoT project: best general contractor for IoT projects.
