So it has happened, now I work as a Software Engineer in one well-known telecommunications company in Ukraine. Before learning Java, I programmed in languages such as C, C++, Assembler. For some reason I was skeptical about Java due to lack of knowledge. One Android developer friend advised me to seriously study this language. And I always wanted to write high-load Enterprise-level server applications. I started learning Java with JavaRush. I saw the link in the topic of the contact programmers group. I decided to “play”, 10 levels are free anyway. I immediately liked the approach to learning - the first ten levels were simple and easy. Then you had to buy a subscription. At that moment I had no doubt - I had to continue, since I took it seriously, and the material was presented so that it was very little money for such a course. Subsequently, I was only convinced that I had not spent the money in vain. At the same time, I read books every day, and programmed every day too. Somewhere at level 16-17 I started my home project, as it turned out later - this is very important. Having reached level 30, I started sending out resumes. Since I had previously worked in telecommunications as a system administrator, I decided to continue in this area. Yes, I like it. Passed the first interview, showed my project (spring boot, linux, mysql). We were given 2 tasks - to write prototypes of productive CRUD interfaces. Then at the second stage it was necessary to justify the choice of technologies, which I did. They took me. Later, already working, I realized that the preparation of JavaRush was enough with a reserve. It's a pleasure to work. Highly loaded projects, BigData, omnomnom :) Well, the money that I once spent on the course - it was easily recouped from the very first salary. Even taking into account the current exchange rate. I continue to study - now I’m at level 35 and moving on. I have already attended 2 conferences, one of them is JEE Conf. I’ll be going to Lviv for Java Day. Started learning Spring and Hibernate. I’m also learning English - the key to more serious companies. But everything has its time. In general, this is the case - if you do it, then do it seriously. Read a lot every day, write a lot and don’t give up. It's worth it. Thanks to hubert and his team for their enormous work and desire to make the world a better place. My world has become a better place, and you can too. Just always remember why you are doing it all.
