How to motivate yourself

Published in the Random EN group
I have already encountered low motivation among the Javarashites several times. The higher the level, the more difficult and nothing is clear. Tasks begin to give out the most hardcore, and Google does not chew as it should. Simply put, efficiency = null, and because of the inability to solve the problem for a couple of days, the spirit drops. Damn it, this has never happened to me! All the same, I didn’t bake) Therefore, I offer several interesting methods that will help motivate yourself. 0. Modeling the future. Probably the most famous method, because without it in any way. All this thanks to our prefrontal cortex - even without much focus on it, we think about what will happen next. I'm sure that everyone has already seen themselves as a programmer, team leader, or at least a roboticist or a NASA employee. This method, if used alone, is suitable only in the initial stages, before encountering difficulties. As soon as there are obstacles in our path, then faith in our future begins to slowly disappear. In general, no matter how vehemently you replace pieces of reality with a simulated future, this is not enough, even if you think about digitizing the brain and sending the connectome to other galaxies. 1. Self-discipline. Getting up at six in the morning is always associated with not the most pleasant actions: going to school, university or work. Doing exercises or running in the morning is the lot of the few. It is better to drink a cup of coffee in the morning and the mood will become better. In fact, it's all important. You need a routine, morning rise, exercise, then breakfast. Warm-up from the computer every two hours. Tea or coffee scheduled. It gives confidence and perseverance, so you can control your brain's desires to go eat a cupcake or watch porn. But after sleeping for ten hours, it will hardly be possible to get rid of laziness. With a schedule and self-discipline, saying: “Today I solve problems from ten to one,” there will be no problems with perseverance. 2. Bragging. The more people know that you are a programmer, that you are in the best online resource in the world, that you are a computer giant, the better. This method helps to believe in yourself. Almost a simulation of the future, only more like its projection into the present or a slightly embellished present. Do your neighbors already know that you have solved the next problem? But do not get carried away, to write a self-developing artificial intelligence you still need to grow up. 3. Support. More about believing in yourself. The support of your loved ones is the best thing that can happen. When you are broken, already shouting that you will not be a June, your beloved comes up to you | favorite | mother | dad | grandmother | grandfather | hugs others and says: "You will succeed." It inspires. And really, you will succeed. 4. Sports. This column is not here because the programmer sits a lot. Sports help you think. This is a banal fact, if the body is in good shape, then the brain is in good shape, which means that the mood is better and you want to solve problems. One charge is not enough here. Do not run in the morning, it's time to start. What if you don't feel like running? There are many alternatives. As an option, buy a unicycle at a flea market and learn how to ride it. 5. Boredom. If there is no mood or you don’t want to solve problems, or maybe motivation = null - then make yourself bored. There is nothing worse than boredom. For me, reading the well-known book "Java Philosophy" turned out to be similar, I could not read out of the context of the problem being solved, and in an hour of reading I simply exploded with the zeal to study CodeGym. Maybe the best way for you is to just stand in the middle of the room and do nothing. 6. Multithreading or switching attention. Who said you have to think about Java all the time? Philosophy? Religion? Be careful, this can blur your mind for a while, or it can even lead to mental paralysis! One of the best ways to learn without getting tired or discouraged is by shifting your focus. So go hobby! We fold origami, ride a skateboard, draw, play the saxophone, glue wallpaper - whatever you like. 7. Rest. Based on the previous paragraph, rest suggests itself. There are days when work, study, tasks, etc. are already in the liver. In order not to bring yourself to depression, you can relax a little, turn off the alarm, forget about tasks for a day and just chew on chips and watch cartoons. True, after such a relaxation, it’s a little hard to return to duty. However, the head will be fresh. 8. Advertising. Are you on social media? We exclude everyone from the news, except for programming publics and, most importantly, leave CodeGym. What is your browser start page? I have CodeGym. Have you already purchased a cup with the Java logo? What about a T-shirt? Such advertising of the student is an integral factor in motivation, these symbols, even the smallest, will make you think about programming and it will simply be impossible to fall into the state of "I'm giving it up." 9. Sophisticated algorithms. Often the problem is not in the knowledge of the material, but in an algorithm that is not worthy of the Lord of Hell. It's time to open Habr and smell turnips by asking an entertaining question: "How does it work?".
