Why you should invest in self-education

Published in the Random EN group
After receiving a university diploma, many breathe a sigh of relief: that's all, the useless time of education is over. It's time to get a job and earn money, and even better - eventually open your own business. It's just that a year, two, five passes, and progress slows down. On the one hand, the university "crust" does not give anything. On the other hand, bare practical experience is not enough for a qualitative breakthrough in a career. Self-education is as necessary as food, air, training. To stay in good shape, once is not enough: you need to constantly keep yourself in shape. Perhaps now you feel that you are wasting time in an unloved job, where there are no development prospects. Or at the university for an education that is unlikely to come in handy. Or you liked it all, but now you understand that you turned somewhere wrong. Is it useless to change something? Well, I do not. It's never too late to make your life better. So what can you do to always stay relevant in the profession and do what will truly bring pleasure? Think and start collecting information. What professions are promising, interesting? What does the world need? Which of these would bring you pleasure and money? What job could be a logical addition to your meaning of life? Doubt Question all the dogmas you already know. There can be no "better way" known to all. If there was a way to quickly and reliably become rich and successful, everyone would start using it, immediately negating its advantage (although I know of exceptions to this rule). This is exactly what happened to higher education. If you are still studying - forget about the university Zaochka, IMHO, a great option. Go to work and buy yourself a reprieve from the army. Well, or just forget to study. Even if you do not think of becoming a programmer, studying will give you almost nothing. You won't lose much. Forget about university, even if you study at Moscow State University. If you are so smart that you were able to go there, then you remain just as smart even without university. Self-education Better spend this time on self-education. Look for and read good books in your field of interest. Be sure to find video lectures from Western universities in the specialty in which you want to work. This applies to IT, economics, business, and almost any profession. Take a course If you studied at a technical specialty at a university or just at school, mathematics was easy for you -try taking the CodeGym course . Many people have dramatically changed their lives, greatly improving it, when they made the decision to go into programming. The more of you who try, the more you will succeed. Look around Explore the possibilities that are around you. Maybe you decide to change universities, go to see the US, study in Germany, or look for a job in New Zealand. When one of my friends went to study for free in the USA, Germany, or found a remote job in London with a salary twice as much as mine, I said to myself, “Wow, but I didn’t know that this was possible.” Hang out with people older than you Find someone who is already in a job you love or who lives the lifestyle you want. People will gladly share their knowledge with you. If you only knew how difficult it is sometimes to find like-minded people.
