We are launching a series of video interviews with developers, in which we will talk about training, job search, career growth and relocation. In the first interview, we talk with Epam Systems developer Roman Beskrovny about how he sent over a hundred resumes and got his first job in IT. In this text, we have collected some Roman quotes that will help you in your job search.

Make sure the recruiter is comfortable

The resume should not be very large or very small. It should be compact so that the recruiter can quickly assess your experience and skills. Of course, the resume must be in English (at least for the Ukrainian market). When I was preparing a resume, I took one of the resume templates and “shamanized” it for myself. There are certain sites where you can buy a subscription for $ 2: the site will offer a bunch of templates. Based on your data, the program will create a resume in all formats at once.

Write a cover letter

You can’t just add a resume to the letter and send it, you need to write something about yourself. It is quite possible to write some kind of readable cover letter in English: that you liked the company, that you want to work in it, and so on. There is a very large response to junior vacancies and they often take the letter that is more understandable.

Mass mail your resume

I found all the companies that have an office in Kharkiv and saved their mails. After that, I sent a letter to each company separately. To prevent the letter from going to spam, I sent it with a certain period of time. As a result, the departure took about a day and a half.

Do some work on the bugs

Every interview is an experience. Thinking about it this way, you can get a job. Ask for feedback. Yes, no one likes to write them, but if you ask very strongly, then they will most likely give it. Based on these feedbacks, work on the mistakes and pass interviews again. “Searching for the first job is always stressful”: tips from a senior on how to successfully pass an interview - 1
