JavaRush Winter Online Internship: Prepare While You Still Can! - 1
Classes start on February 22 . So there is still time to reach level 35 . Recruiting, as always, will be done by Vasyl Malik . Below are questions and answers about the upcoming internship.

What does an internship provide?

An internship will give you more than 5 years of university education. First of all, a unique opportunity to gain real experience in working with technologies that constantly appear in Java Junior vacancies , but they are not easy (and some of them are even impossible) to learn by studying on your own:
  • Spring,
  • Spring MVC
  • Spring Security,
  • Hibernate
  • JPA
  • JSP,
  • JSTL
  • ORM
  • REST,
  • Bootstrap,
  • AJAX
  • jQuery
  • Git,
  • Junit.
Of course, in 12 weeks of internship you will not have time to study all these technologies (very serious ones) thoroughly. However, you will get an idea of how they are used in real projects and can legitimately mention them on your resume.

How long will the internship take?

Sign up only if you can devote 6-8 hours a week to studying .

What are the conditions for participation?

  • JavaRush level 35 or higher;
  • you have (or had, but ended less than a year ago) an annual Internship, Internship+, Mentor or Premium Project subscription. An active PREMIUM PRO subscription is also suitable;
  • you have completed the test task and received confirmation from Vasyl Malik .
If you have already reached level 30, but have not yet reached level 35, it’s time to try leveling up! There is enough time: enrollment for the online internship continues until February 21 inclusive (until 14:00 Moscow time).

Can I upgrade my Premium subscription to Premium Pro?

The updated JavaRush does not provide a mechanism for upgrading subscriptions. If your subscription does not include participation in an internship, get a PREMIUM PRO subscription . Previously, it was possible to participate in an internship only with an annual subscription (Internship, Internship plus, etc.), but now it is possible to pay for the internship monthly by purchasing PREMIUM PRO. Payment must be made every month, starting from the month of recruitment (in this case - February ) and ending with the last month of the internship - May . This is a total of 4 months of payment for the PREMIUM PRO subscription.

I did a test task. What's next?

Leave your contact information in the “Internship” -> “Submit Application” section. You must also leave a link to the completed test task in your application.

I can't do the test task. Can I still participate in the internship?

The test task is required to be completed. If you cannot complete it, then it is too early for you to go for an internship. Better practice on JavaRush problems, read the theory, and get ready for your next internship.

When is the next internship?

JavaRush internships take place 4 times a year, once a season. The next internship will start at the end of February 2018, the next one – approximately May or June 2018.

I have already completed/started an internship, but have not completed the internship. I would like to go through it again. So it is possible?

Starting with the spring recruitment of 2017, you can complete the internship as many times as you like. If you are registering for an internship again, you do not need to submit a test assignment.

How long does the internship last?

12 weeks. Enrollment is open until February 21 inclusive (until 14:00 Moscow time), the start of the internship itself is February 22 . After February 21, applications will not be accepted - you will have to wait for the start of the next internship (approximately May-June 2018).

How will everything happen?

You will work on a fairly large project, which will give you a varied experience. The project is designed for 3 months . Every week you will study another technology and add another piece of functionality to the project. The training plan and list of technologies studied can be found here .

How will the classes be held?

At the beginning of each week you will receive a video recording of the lesson (2-3 hours long!). The lecture will include an analysis and explanation of the next technology and homework, which will be completed in a week. Medium difficulty tasks. If you figure everything out on the first day, then do it in 1-2 days. If you didn’t understand right away, then you should invest a week.

How will I receive reviews and feedback?

After a week, the internship supervisor posts his own solution, and you can look/disassemble it, regardless of whether your solution worked or not. This is a very effective approach because... analyzing the solutions of experienced developers can be an order of magnitude more useful than making your own somehow. Especially if you've just been racking your brains for days, looking for a way to do everything well, quickly and beautifully. A separate group will be created in Slack where you and other internship participants can ask questions in real time and receive answers from the internship supervisor. He will comment on the technology being studied, his solution and code. But not your code.

Internship registration process

  1. Go to the “Internship” section -> “Submit an application”.
  2. Upload the task.
  3. You decide, fill out all the forms (to apply for an internship, it is advisable to use Google mail), click “Submit Application”.
  4. After you have submitted your internship application, the internship status on the quest map ( https://javarush.com/quests ) will change to “Ongoing: You have submitted your internship application.”
  5. An examiner reviews your application. Possible outcome:

    • If you do not have a subscription that gives you the right to do an internship, you will receive an email about this.
    • If not everything goes smoothly, a letter with the examiner’s comments will be sent by e-mail.
    • If everything goes well, you will be accepted for an internship. Please provide the correct postal address as you will receive an email with further instructions.
If you have questions about the test, ask them in this topic. Applications for internships will be reviewed 2-3 times a week depending on the number of applications.
