A curious case from the life of a programmer

Published in the Random EN group
Hi all! :) Recently, a rather funny incident happened to me, which I would like to share. This happened at the career day at Selectel, an overview of which, as well as other IT companies, you can see HERE A curious case from the life of a programmer - 1 During the event itself, a competition was held. T-shirts, soft toys, thermal mugs, power banks and other souvenirs with company symbols were played here.

The names and surnames of the participants of the event were printed on pieces of paper, all this was put into a lottery drum and spun, pulling out the winners and announcing them from the stage. Some of the winners, perhaps unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, were absent. The boys didn't make it.

The competition was coming to an end, I did not hope to get anything, there were quite a lot of people. When all the main prizes were drawn, the host of the event announced the following: “Now we will raffle off my favorite souvenir. Bin bag. One of you, today, will go with him to the subway. At first, I didn’t even attach importance to this mattress, standing next to all the prizes ... “It wasn’t enough for me to win and drag this crap. Although hardly. Who am I kidding? The probability is too low." thought to himself. Some time passes, they pull out a name, they name the winner. “Fuuuh. Not me...” he said to himself, relaxing in his chair.

But the winner did not respond, which is why the drawing of this gigantic bastard continued. And yes, you guessed it, they pulled me out! Surprisingly comfortable stray of fairly good quality. I have never used such, but in vain ... A storm of applause, applause :D

The next day, I receive an automatic mailing list in which I am told, with regret, that they could not see me at the above-mentioned event.

And, most devastatingly funny, I was in the photo in the attachment of this letter, sitting on this newly won bean bag.

Apparently there was an out of sync in the database: it's okay, no matter who it happens to: D After some time, literally the next day, the error was fixed, although I did not report it at all.

I feel morally right to call this case categorically absurd and ridiculous. Thank you for your attention. P.S.: the map of the event, if anyone is interested, you can see HERE
