Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 1
I had a wonderful opportunity to personally communicate with representatives of some companies with which I would like to introduce you and, at the same time, share my impressions. Since we are programmers, and I am writing an article on a thematic resource, the bias will be made towards vacancies that are related to Java. I won't delay, let's get started.

1. Megaphone

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 5
Needs no introduction: Russian mobile operator from the "Big Four". At the moment, Megafon is actively developing in the field of IT, which is why it is in dire need of specialists. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find out the specifics for Java. The booklet highlighted the following items that are close to us. Key skills, interesting companies.
  • OC: Windows, Linux, UNIX
  • "Programming": SQL, Java, PHP, Python, JavaScript, C++
  • "Databases": Oracle, MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Teradata DB, Firebird

2.T-Systems

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 6
The company is engaged in software development for large foreign customers, at the same time, it is a center of expertise in the field of Java development and software testing. Based in St. Petersburg, there is a small office in Moscow and Voronezh. They are recruiting active people who are ready to develop in the field of IT. Because the company specializes in Java, our topic, I managed to ask representatives about this direction in more detail. There are three ways to get to them:
  1. Java school

First, a resume is accepted, then technical homework is given (you need to complete it, put it on git, fasten automatic testing), after that, Java SE is tested on computers, then an interview + English language testing. English is very important, you need to be able to read technical literature and communicate with company employees from other countries.

School education. Lectures + dz + curator. If you are allowed to defend a project that is written individually, in the process of learning, then you can get to the defense. Successfully defended interns will get a job in the company's staff.

  2. Internship

The requirements are the same as the first paragraph. Here you immediately get into the working project. According to the result, either they will be invited to the state, or they will say goodbye.

Depending on the workload and your abilities, you are assigned either there (A) or there (B).

  3. Software tester

Here, in fact, there are slightly less strong requirements for knowledge of programming (corresponding libraries are written for testers), but you need to know not only English, but also German. There are more requirements for languages than in the first two options.

3. P&G - Russia

An American multinational consumer goods company. (Dialogue) - What do you have in IT? - In St. Petersburg, unfortunately, there are no internships now. Recently, people have graduated and found jobs. Now only Moscow. We recruit people, they train, then we take them to our staff. - What languages, do you have a vacancy Java developer, C# developer? - You take it too narrowly! We have IT in general. The technology stack depends on the specific project. Apparently they need specialists of a very broad spectrum. http://russia.pgcareers.com https://hh.ru/employer/4949

4. Aisec

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 8
A large public organization that is engaged in the "acquaintance" of applicants. It has existed in Russia since 1989. One of the first organized internships for our students abroad after the fall of the Iron Curtain. They offer many employment opportunities, including in the field of development. You leave an application on the site, they contact you and offer internships, jobs, etc. Currently recruiting for internships in programming (including Java) in Egypt. The cost is about 30-60 tr., their proposals did not impress me, because placed too much emphasis on commerce. It seems that they want to "suck" something into you. But you should not blindly reject such an option, because the organization has a very rich history. https://www.aiesec.org/

5.Ulmart

Online store selling non-food products. Now it is going through hard times, as far as I know, but, in terms of the quality of service and convenience of shopping, perhaps one of the best stores where I have ever bought household appliances, camping equipment, etc. I asked about Java. Now they are rewriting their site in the OOP style to make its components more independent, which is why the junior recruitment is not being carried out at the moment. Requires middle and above. https://www.ulmart.ru/ https://hh.ru/employer/219638

6 Selectel

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 10
Russian IaaS provider. St. Petersburg and Moscow. The company is engaged in providing hosting and cloud services for all levels of business: from individual entrepreneurs to large companies. Unlike the previous stands, which I approached, there were, in addition to HR, the current developers of the company. But, it so happened historically that they do not use Java - they use Python / Go. Everything was explained to me in detail. It's nice when you speak the same language with technical specialists. The company makes software for itself and for the domestic market. There are few foreign clients. I managed to visit their office in St. Petersburg, not once. Very nice place, clean well-groomed office, quite friendly and sociable staff. The company is actively expanding, internships are held in various areas. You can see my funny story at one of the events of this company HERE https://selectel.ru/careers/all/ https://hh.ru/employer/633069

7. Grid Dynamics

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 11
A transnational company that builds high-tech scalable solutions in the field of e-commerce, finance and other areas. Russia: St. Petersburg and Saratov. Java development is required, but, unfortunately, only middle developers are considered at the moment. Junior is not currently recruiting. All booklets focus on English, a good level of proficiency is required. In general, the company makes a good impression, definitely deserves attention. https://www.griddynamics.com/careers https://hh.ru/employer/802184

8.Yota

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 12
Russian mobile operator. The company needs Java developers, I managed to get HR interested, I received a test task by mail, but, unfortunately, the main focus is on Android, which I was not even told during the conversation at the event. Based on the results of the test task, you are interviewed, then hired or sent for an internship. This is how the test task itself looks like, it is not difficult at all, if we compare it, for example, with the Java rush test task, but I didn’t waste time on it, because my soul does not lie to the android. Apparently, people are required who will maintain the functionality of the existing application for Yota customers. https://www.yota.ru/ https://hh.ru/employer/105904

10. Humaniq

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 14
Global innovative financial ecosystem built on blockchain technology (Ethereum). At the moment, the company is developing a chat with its own cryptocurrency. Very reminiscent of the idea of Pavel Durov, Telegram. The head office is located in London. They are going to open the first office in Russia, in Moscow. Remote work on Java - android is possible. https://humaniq.com/careers

11. Semrush

Overview of employer companies (St. Petersburg, April 2018) - 15
A multinational company that creates marketing platforms. The head office is in Philadelphia. In Russia, there is an office in St. Petersburg. I haven't observed Java junior positions, mostly people with extensive work experience are required, but sometimes vacancies appear. As with Grid Dynamics, a good level of English is required. One of the most interesting booths I've ever seen. I managed to farm a couple of funny souvenirs at competitions. I would gladly dupe and give it to you, but the bug was fixed ...
