Best Java EE Books - 1
Greetings to all lovers of pain and suffering. Once you find yourself on the threshold of the Enterprise, everyone who enters here should abandon hope. Today I bring to your attention a small selection of books on Java EE. But first, a moment of silence for Java EE...

The king is dead, long live the king! The fact is that in mid-August 2017, Oracle ended up giving up the rights to Java EE in favor of the Eclipse Foundation, and already at the beginning of 2018, following a vote to change the name of the project (due to the fact that Oracle refused to transfer the rights to use Eclipse trademark "Java"), it was decided to rename Java EE to Jakarta EE. Let's get back to the books. Everything here is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. Firstly, the chosen topic sounds like “The best books on Java EE” and there is a small nuance here: books on frameworks are not suitable here, which means even “Higher Intelligence” from Answers.Mail will not help here.

Secondly, leaving the warm and cozy comfort zone called “Java SE”, you should forget about the Russian language and switch to bourgeois.

Thirdly, if at this level you haven’t acquired a mentor or friends from among at least slightly more experienced developers who could help with advice and set you on the right path, then... everything is very sad ^_^

But you didn’t think that these little things would stop me? So, despite the fact that the senpai of the Java EE platform has changed, according to the terms of the transfer, the holy of holies of Java since the times of Swing will be preserved - this is backward compatibility, which means that nothing prevents us from using already written literature. First, some information from the most reliable and reliable source:

Based on the SE platform, the EE platform was built, which includes everything that is in SE + additional technologies for creating Commercial software, providing an API for working with it, frameworks work on top of it. Cheap and cheerful.

Why is this story here? Bring on the best books on Java EE already! Wait a minute, “Java numbering” goes according to the SE platform, i.e. Java 10 is essentially Java SE 10, but as you can see from the screenshot, things are a little different for the EE platform. After a long break, tears, suffering and hysterics, after several loud statements about the severance of relations, Oracle, under public pressure, finally released the Java EE8 platform - at the end of August 2017, which means the most “recent” literature in Russian will be on the EE7 platform, that’s what I was guided when searching for books.

1. Learning Java EE 7

A quick note. I’m afraid one article is not enough to give at least a brief description of the book and the level required to read it, so at this point I will limit myself to small comments. There are very few such books and each already has a large number of reviews. A short description from the publishing house "Piter" Soon the same publishing house plans to translate a book on EE8 - we're waiting

2. EJB 3 in action

3. Java EE 7 and GlassFish 4 Application Server

4. Head First Servlets and JSP: Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam

No matter how hard I tried to select the best literature on Java EE only in Russian specifically for JavaRush, unfortunately, this was not possible. However, the books in the Head First series are quite easy and written in very good English, so I think it will not be difficult to study.

Conclusion

When learning Java in the JavaRush course, you will most likely jump over the EE platform itself and immediately find yourself in the thick of frameworks. And that's normal... or not? You can argue about this endlessly, give millions of arguments and receive the same number of counterarguments, get personal and even call “go PvP or fucked up.” It all depends on the position, company, knowledge... Below I have added several links to articles that, I hope, will help you understand. Thank you for your attention, see you soon! Do frameworks make developers stupid?
