Ripple Interledger cryptocurrency payment protocol built in Java
Ripple payment network software architect David Fuiling announced the creation of Hyperledger Quilt v1.0, a new version of the open Interledger protocol. The protocol, which is written in Java, will be used to send cross-border payments in cryptocurrency or national currencies. According to Fuiling, Java was chosen because it is used in software that is compatible with Android. “Millions of Java developers around the world have billions of devices running Java software. With this in mind, Quilt is vital because it provides Java developers with easy-to-use libraries for sending and receiving Interledger payments,” David Fuiling said in a statement. The Ripple payment network has its own cryptocurrency – the XRP token. In terms of capitalization, XRP ranks 3rd in the ranking of world cryptocurrencies, second only to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). Microsoft's open source integrated development environment - VS Code or Visual Studio Code - has been chosen as the main platform for developing products and applications by Facebook. Although Facebook makes VS Code the default developer environment, company spokesman Joel Marcy clarified that there is no "mandatory development environment" within the company, so some developers use other platforms such as Vim and Emacs. “Visual Studio Code is a very popular development tool, with great investment and support from Microsoft and the open source community. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and has a robust and well-defined API that allows us to continue creating large-scale developments for the company,” Marcy said.
