My first article on this topic, do not judge strictly :) I am writing this article in between preparing for the second stage of the interview. As soon as it passes, I will definitely write about it. Writing helps me take my mind off preparation. This article will not be related to programming and yet it is very important for a programmer. The problem of professional burnout exists and it cannot be avoided just like that. And what is it actually? Googling, the first link says:
Professional burnout is a syndrome that develops against the background of chronic stress and leads to the depletion of the emotional, energetic and personal resources of a working person.

In order to become a Java developer, you need a LOT of emotional, energetic and personal resources . Because you need to know and understand a huge number of frameworks, tools, libraries, etc. And over time, this number is growing. And the most difficult thing is at the beginning, when you need to master some basic number of them. And the question is what to do so that you don’t “burn out” at the stage of training? ... I also thought about this question at one time, but I had some knowledge about what the wheel of life is .

I will not go into details of how to use it (you yourself google it - you are programmers), but I will try to collect tops: in order to acquire a balance in life, it is necessary to develop all areas in life. And balance is necessary in order to be happy and to have emotional-energetic and personal resources . Which we, programmers, need so much. First and foremost, health. There is nothing without health. After all, you yourself understand that when we are sick, we don’t want to do anything. And to be healthy, you need to make an effort. professional burnout. Go in for sports!
Sport gives us the strength we need to live. Sport feeds us with the resources that we need in order not to burn out as a specialist. Sport makes us healthy and not susceptible to disease.
  • For example, I go to the gym 3-5 times a week. Moreover, each workout begins with a run on the treadmill and ends with it. I stick to doing lots of sets and lots of reps. I think this is the best solution for a profession like ours.
  • I bought myself a fitness tracker to keep track of how much I walk a day. This is also very important in our sedentary lifestyle. I have a norm of 10,000 steps, which is about 8 km.
  • I have a bike and I use it. Amateur. I drive around the city.

Board games
I really love playing board games! It was a discovery for me, a couple of years ago I tried it. We started with the game "Monopoly" , but it turned out to be not enough and the fact that it is heavily dependent on the cube pulled us further and then we played the board game "Colonialists" , which was also with a cube, but it is more interesting as a strategy. Moreover, it is in the Colonizers that we constantly play, the beauty of it is that the map is not static and is always laid out randomly and each time everything is different.
In pursuit of complexity, we started playing top games such as "Game of Thrones" and "Civilization", in which only thoughtful reading and explanation of the rules takes at least 2-3 hours. But it's worth it. professional burnout.  How to resist?  - 4
Musical instrument
Here, of course, it is more difficult and the entry threshold is higher than in board games, but it's worth it. This is exactly the part in the wheel of life that relates to creativity and personal growth. I play guitar. Of course, I learned this before I started programming, but I'm sure that learning to play "4 thieves chords" on the guitar is not so difficult to start with. But the effect will be amazing!

Personal life
One of the strongest motivators is to develop in the name of someone . Recently I got married, I have a young beautiful wife, for whom I want to bring the laurels of my victories. With her, I develop all the time, become better. Moreover, this is a great responsibility, which also disciplines.

Dreaming is one of my favorite things to do. My wife and I do this very often. And then after we dream, we sit down at the table and set goals . Goals that will make our dreams come true.

Set goals
No successful person can do without goal setting. At the moment, I'm talking about those people who have achieved everything themselves, but did not inherit. It is those who, through work and sweat, have achieved everything in their lives. There is an excellent, proven technique - SMART goal setting
Rest is a change of activity
So simple and so important. In order to have the strength for development, it is necessary to develop differently. In this article, I have given the things that I do. For you, they may be different, completely different. But there is only one principle - in addition to work, development of oneself as a specialist, it is necessary to take into account other roles.

There is one more thought. There will be people who don't like it, and that's okay.
If you want to achieve even more and move to a new level - stop drinking alcohol and cigarettes and other substances that give fake pleasure! Absolutely, as they say, "not a drop in your mouth."
As far as I'm concerned, I've been completely free from alcohol for 1.5 years. Just at the moment when I decided to learn Java. And in that time I have achieved a LOT. And the goals for the future are RELATED.

The article turned out maybe without a rigid structure, it is rather a cry from the heart. Life stories that I shared with you today. Of course, maybe you are doing all this, then I am very happy for you. And yet there are people who do not know about it. I did not know. I didn't know until I was 22. And would be glad to know about it early.
