Greetings, future Senior Software Engineers! There comes a time for everyone when they need to start looking for a job. Here I would like to talk about how I did it, how I thought, what difficulties I encountered and what I did to overcome them. This article can be used as a step-by-step reference, so enjoy reading and may this help you as much as it helped me! Here I will not talk about how to write a resume. This is a separate article and it is not at all simple; my goal is different. Let's assume that you already have a resume. How to find a job? Tips for sending out resumes - 1

Where to send?

But really, where? You need to tell the world that you are ready to work! In our case, almost all IT companies have their own websites and on these websites you can find their email. The first step is to collect company mail. And there should be not 2, not 5 or even 10, but more, as much as possible. (For example, I had a list of 131 mail!). As I later found out, I didn’t search that hard, since at that time there were already about 300 companies in my city. There is another way; often companies are registered on job sites and you can still find them there. For those from Ukraine, there is a website for programmers dou link directly to the list of companies . There you can select your city and look. The resource is generally very strong and I advise all beginners to go through it!

Covering letter

Let's say you have already collected a list of emails from all the IT companies you could. The next step is to write a cover letter... What is it? A cover letter (in my understanding) is a text that is attached to a letter along with a resume, in which you can write the purpose of this letter, some favors about the company (for example, I am sure that I will become better in your company, etc.) and of course, say what position you are going to take. The cover letter MUST be in English! Recruiters love it when they write a cover letter, and once you write one, you will be superior to those who have not done so. I'm sure many people don't write this. When there is a lot of competition for a position, at the first stage a lot depends on the recruiter! I won’t give my example, because... I want to use it again :)

Sending out resumes

Now both the resume (in English, of course) and the cover letter are ready and can now be sent out, but first you need to do the following: From what mail should I send it? It would be good practice if there is mail from Google (gmail.com) and it will consist of the template firstName.lastName@gmail.com. It often happens that they are sent from old emails that were registered as brutal.eggs@mail.ru or something else funny. Send each letter separately for each company, do not send mass mailings! This is visible to those who receive it and this is a minus for you! Send 5-6 emails every 3-4 hours to avoid getting on the recipients’ spam list. Wait for an answer :) Of course, you may think that the company you are sending does not need you at all, but this is a wrong opinion, because:
  1. If that company doesn’t have a Java department, that’s fine. You don't need answers from this company either.
  2. If there are Javas there, but there is no vacancy, that’s also good. They will tell you that there is no vacancy yet, but they will add you to their database and as soon as they appear, they will write to you.
  3. It often happens that a junior position exists, but it is not advertised so that there is no spam from those interested and they look for it on their own. This is where they first look at their database, which you MUST get into if you want to be among the first.
  4. As usual, everyone needs a bit of luck!

LinkedIn is a social network for job seekers and employees. In the CIS it is a social network for finding IT specialists. This is one of the most favorite places for recruiters. Here you need to create your profile and fill it out as much as possible. There you can put your skills that you have so that the recruiter can know.

djinni.co is a portal for secretly searching for programmers. Recruiters initially see only the skills of the person looking for a job and can only obtain information about you with the consent of the applicant. a very convenient thing for those who work and are thinking about changing. And for us, this is another place where recruiters can find us. So don’t disdain this place, register and wait, maybe someone will write)

Github is a platform for open source projects where you can store your projects and share them with others! This is a great place to take test assignments for interviews. Here's a great example of how a test task turns into a real library that is used in production code! This is also a place that should eventually become your resume portfolio.

Bottom line

Now you know how to do this, it's time to act! I would like to wish everyone good luck in finding their first job! Strive, search and luck will thank you! Rate the article, write comments and subscribe to my github romankh3 See also my other articles:
