Mobile Internet speed on the 5G network has reached 2 Gb/sec

SpeedSmart tested mobile Internet speed on a 5G network. For this purpose, we used the new iPhone 12 smartphone models presented yesterday. It turned out that Internet speed largely depends on the operator and location of the user. The highest 5G Internet speeds were recorded in San Francisco (mobile operator Verizon), where owners of new iPhones can count on download speeds of more than 2 Gbps. In Chicago, this figure is lower - from 1 to 1.5 Gbit/s. Testing 5G on the iPhone 12 from the T-Mobile operator showed slightly worse results - from 90 to 650 Mb/s. Programmers caused a diplomatic scandal between Minsk and Kiev

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus expressed a note of protest to the Ukrainian Ambassador in Minsk. The reason for the deterioration of relations between the two countries was the recent decree of President Vladimir Zelensky to stimulate the migration of Belarusian IT specialists to Ukraine. According to official Minsk, by luring programmers from Belarus, the Ukrainian authorities are acting unfriendly. Moreover, the note from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry states that this decree borders on interference in the internal affairs of their country. In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine rejected Minsk’s accusations. The response note from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry states that “our state is traditionally open and friendly to the citizens of Belarus.” Zelensky’s decree on measures to attract qualified personnel from the Republic of Belarus is interpreted in Kyiv as “strengthening human and business ties between the two countries.” Source: Interfax

Zoom is coming to the Zapps internal application platform

Video conferencing service Zoom has announced the upcoming addition of a new tool, Zapps, to its desktop app. It allows users to access third-party services directly from Zoom. The company believes that Zapps will help you do your work more efficiently and productively. To launch Zapps, simply click the button at the bottom of the Zoom interface. With the new tool, employees will be able to open Slack chats, Box or Dropbox documents, and other applications without leaving Zoom. Zapps will be generally available to all Zoom users before the end of 2020. In Kyiv and Lviv, Java developers are offered the highest salary among all vacancies

The popular Ukrainian job search service Rabota.ua has published the results of its research on the state of the labor market. The sample by city included Kyiv, Dnepr, Lviv and Sumy. At the end of September, in Kyiv and Lvov, IT vacancies related to software development occupy 23% and, respectively, 22% of all open vacancies, ahead of wholesale trade and the food industry. The leadership in terms of salaries in Kyiv is held by Senior Java Developers, who are offered an average of 120 thousand hryvnia per month ($4,240). In second place is a remote Front-end developer (112 thousand hryvnia, 3950 dollars). A Senior Python Developer can expect a salary of 106,400 hryvnia ($3,760). The highest paid specialty in Lviv (among open vacancies) is also related to Java development. The mobile version of GitHub received additional tools for code review

Collaborative code development and hosting service GitHub has updated its mobile version. Among the new features of GitHub Mobile 1.3, the most significant is the completely redesigned code review mode. Users also had the opportunity to disable line wrapping on the screen of a mobile gadget using a special switch. You can now change the merge email address and edit the commit description in GitHub mobile. Another new feature is support for comments on multiple lines of code. Zoom has opened a service for hosting paid online events

Zoom has withdrawn from closed beta testing and opened public access to the service for conducting paid online events OnZoom . The new service allows users to host online events with up to 100 or 1000 participants (depending on the license) and sell tickets for them. You can pay for tickets via PayPal or by credit card. In the future, the company plans to expand payment options. Non-profit organizations will be able to accept donations through the service - for this OnZoom is collaborating with Pledgeling. Announcements of events will appear on the OnZoom website soon. For now, only paid Zoom subscribers in the US can create online events, and all US users can join.
