Russian IT business came to the defense of Google Play and App Store

Three Russian IT associations at once: Domestic Software, Russoft and RATEK opposed the adoption by the State Duma of a bill that would oblige Apple and Google to install third-party application stores in iOS and Android. Also, the draft law requires American companies to reduce commissions from 30% to 20% for mobile applications on Google Play and the App Store. The organizations sent a letter to the Ministry of Digital Development with a request not to support the initiative of A Just Russia deputy Fedot Tumusov. The appeal indicates that the adoption of the bill may cause the departure of American IT services from Russia. This option threatens Russian developers with major losses. “A sharp change in the existing rules of the game could lead to the departure of major global players from Russia who are not interested in adapting their application stores and products officially supplied to Russia to new requirements,” the letter says. Tumusov’s bill has already been approved by the relevant State Duma committee and will be considered in February 2021. Source: Kommersant

In the github/dmca repository , which publishes reports of violations of DMCA copyright law, a user under the nickname nat posted the source codes of GitHub.com and GitHub Enterprise. According to experts, the code was added to the official github/dmca repository using a technique that allows you to view any commit from any fork in the main repository by specifying its hash in the URL. For example, you can create a fork of github/dmca and add any code to it, and this code will become available via a direct hash link in the github/dmca repository. The posted GitHub source code is a copy extracted from a virtual machine image from GitHub Enterprise, the enterprise version of GitHub. Source: Opennet
