You give new Java every six months!

The current owners of the Java language, Oracle, are often accused of being too slow. They say that they release new versions of the language too slowly, which does not reflect well on its community. Take Java 9, the release of which has been repeatedly delayed. Let us remind you that the release of “nine” is scheduled for September 21, 2017.

Now everything will change, say the developers. At a conference of the JCP executive committee, Brian Goetz (he works at Oracle as a Java Language Architect, practically the chief for this language) announced his desire to move to a new Java release schedule: once every six months. Moreover, this will not happen someday, but right now, starting with the ninth version. That is, the next two versions of Java should appear in March and September 2018. We still have to wait until this happens, but for now, we invite you to admire the Java 9 wait counter and make sure that there is very little time left before this significant event.
